Lee Guthrie

Bow Maker

Lee Guthrie began making bows in 1990 when he attended a bow making session taught by Bill Salchow at the University of New Hampshire. Since 1996, he has attended the bow making workshop at Oberlin College and continued to learn from colleagues.

Lee has been able to place bows with players from around the world and has found this work to be both challenging and rewarding. His goal is to match the bow to the musician and the instrument, and for the musician to be completely happy with his bow. Lee works with the musician’s particular needs to accomplish this. Using the finest materials available, his bows display excellent playing qualities and have the ability to produce the full, beautiful sound required by both soloists and orchestral players.
