
Andrea Frandsen
Born in Denmark, Andrea studied violin making in Newark-on-Trent, UK, followed by a period in northern Germany, where she had the opportunity to closely observe many classical Italian instruments. After establishing in France in 1988, Andrea has been specializing in new making, mainly of violins and violas. Her current studio is in the Loire valley near Angers. In addition to the great pleasure and honour of having her instruments in the hands of excellent musicians, Andrea has had the privilege to receive two gold medals for violin and viola in Oakland, CA, 1995, and in Paris, 1991. In 2016, she was nominated to the French distinction “Knight of the Legion of Honour”.
During the last decade, Andrea has been invited as a jury member in major international violinmaking competitions in Europe and U.S.A.
