Michael discovered his passion for working with wood at an early age, which inspired him to attend the Violin Making School of America. After graduating, he returned to his native Seattle to work for several shops performing fine restoration and repair. He is currently focused on making new instruments, which are played by advanced students and professionals. Michael has received several awards in the Violin Society of America’s violin making competition in recognition of his work. These include a Gold Medal for Cello, a Silver Medal for Cello Tone, and Certificates of Merit for Violin and Cello Tone. Michael continues to expand upon his training by attending VSA-Oberlin workshops and consulting with colleagues. He currently lives with his wife in the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley near Seattle.
