Jesse started his musical training at age six in coastal Pacific Grove California. A woodcarving apprenticeship in his teens, and love of the violin led him to Italy at age 20 to study in the Renato Scrollavezza School of Violin Making. After finishing a 3 year course Jesse worked in Los Angeles for 4 years in repair and maintenance, going on to specialize in Fine Instrument Restoration for 10 years in Boston, MA.
In 2015 Jesse established himself independently in San Francisco at Jesse Maschmeyer Violins, LLC in the heart of the arts district. He serves the professional playing community, performs sound adjustment, restoration, and fine new instrument creations of his own making. He hopes players will use his instruments to move audiences, the same way he was moved as a child.
