Philip Ihle

Philip Ihle is a violin maker building bespoke concert violins and replacement parts for classical Italian violins.
Before setting up his own workshop in London in 2013, Ihle worked for 12 years as an employee first for Wilhelm Geigenbau in Switzerland and then for Florian Leonhard in London, where he restored, copied and studied great classical instruments and catered to the everyday needs of many a player. Maestro Vanna Zambelli gave Ihle his initial professional training at the violin making school in Cremona.
Ihle has given various talks about the purfling on classical Italian violins and is a regular contributor to the Strad Magazine.
