Grzegorz Bobak was born in 1977 in Zakopane – the Tatra Mountains region in south Poland. He is a graduate of the Fine Arts High School in Zakopane – specialty in sculpture.
Grzegorz trained as a violin maker at the Chicago School of Violin Making and then he studied for a period of time history of art at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow.
He has acquired his professional experience in the William Harris Lee Workshop in Chicago, but everything that is important in violin making he has learned from his father – Jan Bobak – distinguished polish violin maker, first prize winner of International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Maker Competition year of 1986 – founder of Bobak Violino Workshop.
In his workshop, located in Nowy Targ, he makes violins, violas, cellos. His instruments are played by musicians both in Poland and throughout the world.
In recent years he had an opportunity to collaborate with Nigel Kennedy and had a chance to copy his famous Guarneri del Gesu violin. Grzegorz also made a 5-string violin which is played now by the Maestro himself.
